Demonstrations for Elementary School Students
Our Materials Research Center enjoys sending small teams of scientists (graduate students, post-docs, faculty) to local grade schools to perform materials-related demonstrations. Students are treated to a vast array of demonstrations including hammering nails with a frozen banana and making their teacher's hair stand on end from static electricity. Examples of this activity include our long-standing interactions with the U of C Lab School in Hyde Park, which includes regular, reverse visits by 4th-6th grade classes to MRSEC labs.
If you feel that your school could benefit from a visit by our team, contact Nataliya Yufa, our Educational Outreach Coordinator.
