Research Opportunities at IBM Almaden
Are you interested in experiencing research in an industrial setting? The University of Chicago Materials Research Center is looking for undergraduates, graduate students and postdocs to participate in its summer internship program at IBM Almaden in San Jose, California.
We are especially looking for students/postdocs who could drive our MRSEC's collaborative efforts with researchers in the Science & Technology function at IBM Almaden (so if you have a lab there in mind, please indicate). See link for scientific overview of the Science & Technology Function.
For Graduate Students/Postdocs
Graduate students/postdocs are requested to work any quarter other than the summer because of the space/resource limitations at IBM. We would like two students to participate at the same time, for mutual support. For graduate students/postdocs, we will provide free housing, a $500 travel allowance, $5500 for living expenses, and access to a rental car for local travel, etc. as needed. There is no formal application, but a brief description of the research you wish to pursue at IBM is required, as well as your advisor's approval, and some indication of which quarter you would like to pursue the internship. Please email email@example.com with relevant information by May 15th.
Undergraduates can only work there during the summer, during the period the lab has set up for summer interns, and are expected to participate fully in events with interns from other programs/institutions. We plan to provide free housing at a site near IBM, a $500 travel allowance, and a $5,000 stipend for participation in the full 10 weeks for undergrads. IBM will select & place the students.
Deadline for application is February 15th. Please download application, and provide two letters of recommendation and your transcript to:
