A cornstarch/water mixture is poured into a plexiglass container and vertically shaken with an electromagnetic vibration exciter (at 30Hz). Ball bearings are placed into the cylinder together with the starch. The view is straight down the axis of the cylinder.

This movie won 1st Prize in the 2003 Sights & Sounds of Science competition at The University of Chicago.
