Rising Stars in Soft and Biological Materials

The UChicago Materials Research Science and Engineering Center is inviting nominations (including self-nominations) to identify Rising Stars In Soft and Biological Matter.  Those selected will present at a 1-day symposium (to be held virtually) in early Fall 2020 and will receive an honorarium.

One of the goals of this symposium is to promote early-career development of researchers working in exciting new directions in the field of Soft and Biological Matter. Another goal is to increase the diversity of researchers in the field; we particularly welcome nominations from researchers who come from any groups that are underrepresented in physical sciences.

Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who consider themselves in the fields of Soft and Biological Matter and wish to be considered should submit the following information by August 15, 2020 to Eileen Sheu (esheu@uchicago.edu):  (1) a C.V.,  (2)  a manuscript, preprint or poster of research accomplishment to be presented, (3)  A 300 word statement that describes how your trajectory and growth as a scientific scholar is informed by your identity(ies), and what you perceive is the value of diversity and inclusion in science and (4)a recommendation letter (to be submitted separately).
