Patterns on Thin Sheets: From Stressed Inanimate Materials to Biomembranes and Growing Tissues

Recent developments in biology, chemistry and material sciences have renewed the interest in the rich phenomenology of patterns evolving on thin sheets, be it elastic ones with uniform or prescribed metric, or fluid membranes, characterized by homogenous or multi-component molecular composition.
